Clear identification of a cable before it is cut or fitted has huge safety implications. Any mistakes here can result in fatal consequences for the cable fitter and may cause outages for the connected customers.ZWS180D has been developed to make this work much easier and safer.
ZWS180D is a high-performance cable identification system, composed of a signal transmitter, receiver, current clamp, flexible clamp, and cable locator stethoscope. It is used to accurately identify the target cable among multiple cables. It is suitable for live and uncharged cables, including three-core cables with Armour.
There are two methods for signal transmitting to the cable, direct connection and clamp coupling.
For the live cables, use clamp coupling method with the transmitting frequency setting to 625Hz, 1562Hz, 2500Hz or 10000Hz.
For dead cables, adopt direct connection with the transmitting frequency setting to 1562Hz or 2500Hz.
White backlight LCD to indicate the remaining battery power in real time and transmission signal.
Transmitting Clamp
When conducting live cable identification, the current clamp can couple the signal from the transmitter to the target cable with a jaw sized Φ105mm. The signal should flow in from the direction indicated by the arrow on the transmitting clamp.
Receiver
A handheld device with a 3.5-inch color LCD screen and a built-in high-speed microprocessor;
Identifying and decoding the current signal of the transmitter;
Transmitting signal and calibrating 10 cables at the same time;
Indicating signal strength and test results;
Automatically saving the calibration data when power is off;
The color scale bar dynamically indicates the status of cable identification, when locating the target cable, indicating with a tick icon, and incorrect with a cross icon.
Detecting voltage ranging from AC 0.00V to 600V(50Hz/60Hz), AC current from AC 0.00A to 5000A(50Hz/60Hz), and current frequency from 45Hz to 70Hz.
Flexible Clamp

Signal Calibration
Calibrating the transmit signal:
When the current percentage of the receiving signal and the transmitting signal is between 75% and 135% of the calibration value, the cable is successfully recognized.
Calibrating multiple cables at one time;
After being calibrated, the test frequency and gains cannot be changed, otherwise it needs to be re-calibrated.
Direction Recognition
When the transmitting clamp, receiving clamp and loading signal is in the same direction, the direction can be successfully recognized.

Dead Cable Identification:
The coil can detect the pulse signal with loop resistance ranging from 0Ωto 8kΩ. When the resistance reaches 8kΩ, it is necessary to ensure that the battery power of the transmitter is more than 11V.
Depending on the grounding resistance and cable resistance, it can identify cables of max length 20 kilometers.
Live Cable Identification:
The coil can detect the pulse signal with loop resistance ranging from 0Ωto 200Ω. When the resistance reaches 200Ω, it is necessary to ensure that the battery power of the transmitter is more than 11V.
Depending on the grounding resistance and cable resistance, it can identify cables of max length 6 kilometers.
